Learning To Do Fun Family Things

After our kids started to get a little bit older, I realized that we weren't spending that much time together as a family. Instead of spending extra time at work so that we had more money, we decided to put other things aside and learn to do things as a family. We started doing things like going to parks, visiting exhibits together, and teaching our kids how to do things outside. It was really enjoyable, and within a few short months, we could tell that our efforts were making a difference. This blog is all about learning how to do fun things as a family.

2 Meaningful Ways To Memorialize A Loved One

Ethel Howell

Has someone you were close with recently passed away? Before your loved one passed, he or she may have requested to be cremated after death instead of buried. Now that the cremation process is complete, you may want to have a special service in memory of your loved one. There are a few things you can do to memorialize this person.

1. Choose a Custom Urn for the Ashes

The first step to plan out the memorial service is selecting the right urn for the ashes. There are thousands of different urns to choose from. You may want to start by picking out the specific material used to create the urn. Some of the most common materials used include:

  • Wood
  • Ceramic
  • Metal
  • Porcelain

Once you have chosen the material, you can decide what you would like to have added to the urn. There are plenty of options available in basic colors with simple designs, but you may want something that represents your loved one a bit more. For example, there are wood urns that have a special photo slot. You can add your favorite picture of your loved one into that slot for everyone to see during the service.

2. Create a Memorial Picture Wreath

After selecting the perfect urn for your loved one, consider creating a decorative memorial wreath using all kinds of pictures. You may want to include pictures of this person during some of the most important or exciting moments of their life. If you would like to create this memorial wreath, you will need the following supplies before getting started:

  • 1 wood craft ring
  • Hot glue gun
  • Assorted photos of your loved one

Get started by setting the wood craft ring on a flat surface while waiting for the hot glue gun to get warm enough. Once the glue gun is ready to use, begin applying glue to the back of the different photos you have collected and start pressing them down on the wood board, holding them in place for about five seconds. Add as many pictures as you can fit on the wood craft ring, even if it means you have to overlap a few. After all, it is best to fit as many awesome photos on the wood ring as possible. As soon as you have covered the craft ring with pictures, leave it on the flat surface and give it about an hour to dry before picking it up.

You can place this memorial wreath next to the urn at the memorial service. It is one of the first things people will see when they walk through the door. It may make many of the guests smile to see someone they love and care about during better and happier times.

Even though your loved one may not have wanted a big funeral or burial, putting together a small memorial service may be important to you. Investing in a beautiful urn and creating a photo wreath for the service are just two ways to memorialize someone who meant so much to you.
